I’m a subscriber to The Artist magazine and earlier this year created an online profile for my artwork on their website painters-online

The site is the place to go for readers of both The Artist and its sister magazine Leisure Painter. Shortly after the uploading of artwork to my profile on the site I was approached to write a ‘how to’ article for members’ email newsletter. Following the publishing of that article I was then commissioned to write a two-part article for Leisure Painter magazine. The first of these has been published in the September issue (out now).

The subject for the articles is still life items from my kitchen cupboard in acrylic paints. I’ve written a step-by-step guide to painting a jar of marmite and included some quick painting exercises to get to know acrylics. Part two, scheduled to be published in the October issue (available early September) features a step-by-step guide to a bigger setup of objects using the techniques established in part one.
